1798 Silver Dollar , Draped Bust, PCGS grade XF45, rare small eagle, 13 star variety, great detail. Very nice! First time ever offered for sale. This rare coin has spent most of it's life in East Tennessee in one family. Now is your time to own a magnificent piece of American History! You won't find a 1798 13 star small eagle in this condition (PCGS graded XF45, in our opinion it could have been AU50). Very nice Patina. You can search your whole life and may never find another in this good of condition. This is a no reserve auction. Highest bidder will take it home. The 1798 shielded reverse silver dollars are more common than the Small Eagle variety. The draped bust Dollar started in 1795, and as Kentucky became a state, they begin to put 15 stars on the coin. However, as Tennessee became the 16th state and our Nation began growing, it was decided to go back to the 13 stars representing the original colonies of the United States.Only a small fraction of these coins survived, and even fewer in this condition.
